Lost and Found
Please remind your children to visit the lost and found to reclaim items. Thank you for labeling your children’s belongings, as it helps us return items more easily. All unclaimed clothing will be donated on June 25.
School Fees
All fees are now due. Please review your MyCBE PowerSchool account for any outstanding fees. These are located under the Student Fees & Service Registration tab and include field trips, option course fees, noon hour activity fees and athletics.
Library Books
All books are now due back to the learning commons. Please have a thorough search at home for any that still need to be returned. Thank you!
Farewells

Yearbooks
Time is running out to get a yearbook for the current school year (2025-2026)! To purchase one, please visit https://ybpay.ca and enter the code for West Springs School: 11794626. Yearbooks cost $25 and must be purchased by June 26, 2026. Yearbooks will be ready in September 2026. For students who are currently in grade 4, yearbooks will be provided to West Ridge School for distribution.

Music Notes
Hello West Springs Families,
Here are a few learning highlights from the past several weeks in music class.
Kindergarten: Wrapping up with our last class together, singing, and playing Boomwhackers.
Grades 1-3: Playing djembes and learning a bit about a village where djembes are made, in West Africa. We watched a video with most Grade 1 and 2 classes called "Foli (There is No Movement Without Rhythm)", which shows a bit about life in a West African village, how they make djembes, and the role of rhythm in their culture, and we discussed similarities and differences between our relatively privileged lives, and the lives of poor villagers in this village. The video can be easily found on YouTube if you're curious.
Grade 4: Selecting and practicing "Lean on Me" for the Grade 4 Farewell assembly.
Music Notes on Report Cards:
Grade 1-4 students receive two music marks on their report card: "Understands and applies elements of music", and "Listens and responds critically to music"
This year the "understands and applies elements of music" grade included singing in tune, reading and performing rhythms, and a theory or instrumental piece, ukulele skills for Grade 4s, xylophones and note lengths for Grade 3s, and extra rhythm fundamentals work for Grade 1 and 2s.
The "listens and responds critically to music" grade includes observations made about various aspects of music, including time signature, tempo, dynamics, emotional qualities, etc. depending on the grade.
Most students will not get a comment for their music mark on their report card, but if you have questions, feel free to let me know.
