Welcome Back! It has been great to reconnect with students and families this week as we returned from Winter Break. We appreciate your support as students transition and re-establish their school rhythms.
Virtual School Council/WSSDA Meeting: Parents/guardians are invited to join us virtually on January 22, 2026, for the West Springs School Council meeting. There will be a brief WSSDA meeting to approve some school purchases immediately following.

In addition to council's agenda, there will be registration and staffing updates by Mrs. Westgate and Ms. MacMillan, and a presentation by Mr. Vooys, our incredible music specialist.
Parking Reminder
A reminder to families to please give ample space at the cross-walks for pedestrians. With the snow and icy conditions, we have had many near-misses as cars turn because of blind spots. Please give the right of way at all times to those who are crossing the street. Thank you.
Polar Bear Club
If you're interested in your child being part of the Polar Bear Club, please review and sign the PDF document and return to the school via email westsprings@cbe.ab.ca
This is a club that goes outside even when temperatures are below –20 degrees. See the attachment for more information.
Registration for 2026-2027 begins on Monday, January 12, 2026. All registrations are done online in your MyCBE account. Families should register as soon as possible for siblings to ensure you are in the system in time for the Lottery, which takes place in early February. Contact the main office if you have any questions.
This is also a good time to remind parents that if you have moved this year and are no longer living in our designated areas of West Springs and Cougar Ridge, that you will be automatically transferred to your designated school for the Fall. West Springs School is a closed school, and we do not accept any out of bounds students as we have waitlists in most grades for people living in the area.
Staffing Update
We are pleased to share that Mrs. Jehan Ozon has joined our main office staff and will be answering phones and meeting everyone very soon! The children call her Mrs. O and we are looking forward to having her work with the amazing WSS team.
