Kindergarten and new student registration for all grades  

Registration is currently open for all new kindergarten and new students in grades 1-4 for the 2025-26 school year. All registrations done through the CBE School Engage portal between January 13th and February 11th (by noon) will be included in our lottery which will be conducted on February 12th. We are currently at capacity for all grades except Kindergarten and Grade 1 (still capped but there’s currently room for more students) for next year. It’s important to register prior to the lottery so that your chances of getting in are higher. After February 12th, all students are waitlisted and contacted for spots in the order of priority. Please note that we do have students move in and out of the area all year long so registration is ongoing and we pull from our waitlist and offer spots to families weekly. Are you returning to WSS? 

We will be sending home a “Are you Returning to WSS?” letter on Monday for existing families to communicate their plans with the school. This is simply a letter of intention and does not mean that plans can’t change. If you already know you are moving or are making a different choice for next year, it helps us greatly in our spring planning to know in advance. We would appreciate families sending the letter back as quickly as possible and no later than Friday, February 7th, please.

SAVE THE DATE! Free Event on Children’s Nutrition at West Springs School 

Ever wondered why your child comes home with a full lunch bag of food sometimes? Or why we have switched to eating at lunch tables instead of the classrooms? Come to our evening event on February 27, 2025 to get answers to these and lots of other questions and hear from our principal and a Pediatric Dietician about these and a variety of other topics related to nutrition and our children. Please see the flyer and the message from council below and join us on February 27th at 5:30pm in the gymnasium!  

As parents, we understand the ongoing challenges of feeding picky eaters and ensuring our children meet their nutritional needs. The constant struggle of different preferences, dietary limitations, and the pressure to "get it right" can be daunting, and we all want our children to develop healthy attitudes towards food. We hope you can join us to learn some practical strategies for managing picky eaters and fostering positive food and body relationships.
