2024-25 Family WAG

Our Grade 2 students proudly shared their learning at a whole-school assembly today. It was so wonderful to see how what they learn at WSS can come to life for an audience. Bravo Grade 2s! Ask your child what they loved best about the assembly today.

Pink Shirt Day next week: February 26 (Feb 25 for Tues/Thurs Kinder):

We work hard at WSS to foster a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for all students. On Pink Shirt Days, we encourage everyone to wear pink as a symbol of our commitment to kindness, respect and bullying prevention. Pink Shirt Day began as a simple yet powerful movement to stand against bullying and promote a culture of care and inclusion. By wearing pink, we reinforce the message that every students deserves to feel safe and valued at school.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to talk with your children, as we will be at school, about the important of empathy, standing up for others, and creating a positive school culture. Together, we can make a difference by fostering kindness in our community every day.

Jeff Stockton Storytelling Residency has begun!

We are so thrilled to have Jeff Stockton working with our students over the next 3 months. He has been working in classrooms with teachers and students all this week and it has been wonderful to see him in action! There is constant chatter among the students and staff about the wonderful impact he has already made on our learners. Ask your child about what they learned about storytelling this week!

A huge thank you to the WSSDA for funding this incredible opportunity for our school. These types of experiences wouldn’t be possible without their support.

Dress for the weather please!

We expect the warm weather over the weekend to make a sloppy mess in our field next week. Please be sure to have your child dress appropriately for fun, outdoor play including snow pants and boots. You may consider sending some extra socks or pants in your child’s backpack if you know they like to get messy. Thank you!

Labour Action

Please refer to the CBE’s Labour Action page on the website for information on the current labour action and impacts to the school. Schools remain open for learning.
