Dear families,
We had a very fun and lively assembly this morning with some carols to start, a beautiful original piece “A Gift from the Heart” written by Mr. Vooys and sung by the Grade 3 and 4 choir, a story from Mrs. Westgate, “The Gift of Words” by Peter Renolds, and some hilarious skits performed by the teachers and led by Ms. Wright. It was a wonderful way to come together as a community and share a laugh and spread joy. Ask your child about their favourite part!
As we head into the winter break, we hope this time offers your family moments of rest, connection, and even more joy. The weeks leading up to the break are often filled with excitement and many emotions – we are grateful for the care and kindness our students continue to show one another.
We wish you a restful and meaningful break filled with moments that matter to you and your loved ones. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, January 5, 2026, ready to continue learning and growing together.
Warm wishes for a peaceful winter break.

Hello West Springs Families,
I hope that you've had a good first few weeks of December.
Over the past few weeks, I've done singing assessments with most of the Grade 1-4s, and we've sung a mix of several Christmas and winter themed songs, in class and played some Christmas/holiday games.
My apologies for not sending a second notice about the small choir performance today. I mentioned it two weeks ago in the Week at a Glance but should have also sent a reminder last week. I'm pleased with the work we've accomplished with the Grade 3/4 choir in the past month and a bit and am proud and happy to be their choir director. We will do more choir stuff with the Grade 3/4s after Christmas, and I will send home Grade 1/2 choir permission slips with interested Grade 1/2 students sometime in January.
I hope that you and your family have a happy holiday, and a Merry Christmas if you celebrate it 🙂
Best, Mr. Peter Vooys
