Music Concert
Thank you, Mr. Vooys and our awesome learners, for their excellent performances at our Celebration of Music. It was great to see so many families be able to enjoy this opportunity to showcase what the students have learned in music this year.
Maatoomsii'Pookaiks | Children First PL Day
Today, all West Springs staff went offsite to either Nose Hill Park or the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary and used the IndigiTRAILS app to engage in place-based, augmented reality learning experiences which were connected to Indigenous perspectives, histories, and teachings.
Quotes from some of our staff after spending time using the app
“Taught us the connection between bird and the indigenous culture.”
“Super interactive, virtually seeing the elder with their teachings and the birds flying around in front of your eyes with the app would be very interactive with kids”
“Cool to see a place in the city in a new way. Once the app was downloaded, easy to use”
Classroom Complexity Team Funding
Alberta Education and Childcare announced a spring increase in funding for Classroom Complexity Teams. Our school has been given funds and was able to increase support staff hours and hire Ms. Cara as an extra teacher. Our school will be utilizing these funds to increase literacy learning groups (small group reading) and English as an Additional Language small group support for students in need across grades 1 – 4.
