Volunteers and gratitude
Thank you to our fun lunch volunteers and for making our final fun lunch of the school year such a success!
We do appreciate our volunteers at West Springs School! We will be having a Volunteer Appreciation Coffee and Conversation 10 –11 am on June 16, more details coming soon!
Also, big thank you to our grade 3’s and their teachers who worked so hard and presented a wonderful sharing assembly today.
Transportation Registration is Now Open
Families are now able to register for school bus service for the 2025-2026 school year.
Registration is available using your MyCBE account. (If you do not already have an account, learn how to create one.)
Families must register by June 8, 2025, for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year.
We continue to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 8 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes are posted in late August. For those who register after the June 8 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus.
Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.
Music Notes
Hello West Springs Families,
I hope you're enjoying the week. Here are a few recent learning highlights from each grade:
Grade 4: Starting to listen to and learn "Alberta Bound" for our Grade 4 farewell assembly and completing ukulele assessments.
Grade 3: Practicing "Over the Rainbow" and reviewing note lengths and reading melodies including High Do and Low So for an upcoming assessment.
Grade 2: Learning about how Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote several of the songs we've learned, and how they are possibly the greatest composers of musicals, including The Sound of Music. Practicing rhythms, and reading melodies including Do, Re, Mi, So, and La for an upcoming assessment.
Grade 1: Learning about how Mozart was a child prodigy and listening to a bit of "Queen of the Night Aria" from The Magic Flute with most classes. Rhythm, listening and melody reading assessments are ongoing.
Kindergarten: Accompanying songs with body percussion (clapping, patting, stomping), and learning "Alice the Camel".
I hope you have a great weekend!
Best, Mr. Peter Vooys
