WSS Music Notes
Hello West Springs Parents,
I hope that you are enjoying the fall weather. Here are a few learning highlights from each grade.
Grade 4: Working on memorizing and adding dynamics to our Remembrance Day performance song. Working on reading and clapping rhythms including sixteenth notes tikka-tikka).
Grade 3: Learning about the three ways to identify notes:
- The name that tells us how long the note is (ie: quarter note or "ta")
- The scale name that tells us how high or low it is (ie: Do, Re, Mi)
- The exact letter note (ie: ABCDEFG)
Working on singing Low So, along with Do, Re, Mi, So, La and singing "The Green Grass Grew All Around".
Grade 2: Learning the remainder of "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning" by Rodgers and Hammerstein. Learning to read and clap half-notes (ta-a) in rhythm patterns. Listening to and discussing Beethoven's "Fur Elise" with most classes.
Grade 1: Learning how to read a quarter note rest (a "ta rest"). Learning that a composer is someone who writes their own music, and listening a bit to the first composer we'll be learning about, film composer Vangelis.
Kindergarten: Learning and singing several simple songs (different songs in different classes).
Have a great weekend!
Best, Mr. Vooys
